Light-hearted Lookahead: 9 of Wands

Light-hearted Lookahead: 9 of Wands

September 30, 2018 Off By Katie Horn

In General

As the darkness starts to outperform the daylight, how much more appropriate a card can we receive than the 9 of Wands which is all about digging in and making ourselves comfortable!!

As we draw the curtains and snuggle up under a blanket or in front of a fire, we take time to appreciate the warmth we are blessed with in our lives.

It’s time to crackout the spices and juice the windfalls from the garden to make our very own mead or hot mulled juice to create that feeling of Autumn warmth.

In Love

Hopefully the person we are snuggling with under that blanket is the one we want to hold on to for the rest of the season.  Really, as much as we used to love clubbing in our delicate little camisoles despite the biting winds and frost as we did that walk of shame; the novelty has worn off a little. He might not be the most amazing Knight in Shining Armour that served my childhood dreams, but do you know what… he’ll do well enough for now!

In Work

The novelty and excitement of the Summer has finally worn off, and it’s starting to feel as though we are getting stuck in a rut again.  The routine feels a little comforting, though, as we sit back and dream of those warm and sunny days of yore… it was nice while it lasted, but now it’s the right time to just settle in with a cup of tea and get the nose to the grindstone.

In Play

Play?  Play feels like a thing of the past at the moment.  As the flu bug starts rearing its ugly head around us, it’s tempting to stay in and keep safe.  Who wants to go running in the rain anyway?  It’s far too risky – what if we get ht by a flying conker, and we don’t have our safety glasses on? Well never mind, it’s possibly time to dig out that old exercise mat and do a bit of yoga in front of YouTube…

In Finances

Oh yes…. it’s started.  Those pesky Mince Pies are back in the stores, reminding us of the impending Doom which others call Christmas. That’s right, with those very real signs, we now realise that yet again we have just two more pay checks between now and then… so we really couldn’t afford to be out clubbing even if we wanted to.  Time to crack out the candles and try to put a romantic spin on that Shepherd’s Pie!

In Spirituality

Well, if we’re gonna be spending all this time by ourselves anyway, we may as well try and make the most of it from a spiritual viewpoint.  If the candles are coming out anyway, why not try a bit of Dharana, and stare at it!  Yes, That simple technique of staring into space, or at the lovely flickering candle is encompassed in one of the eight limbs of yoga…. Now there you go… that’s something to google while we’re hunkered in!
